Appointment of two new board members

22 December 1997

Anglesey Mining plc today announces two additions to the company's board.

Malcolm Burne, a company director with many years of experience in the financing and operation of mineral companies internationally, joins the board as a non-executive director based in London.

Malcolm Burne has enjoyed a broad international business career spanning 30 years. It commenced in stockbroking as a research analyst and moved on to investment journalism with the Financial Times and Telegraph groups. Later Mr Burne controlled and managed fund management, venture capital and investment banking companies in Australia, Hong Kong and North America. He has been a director of more than 20 public companies many of them in mineral resources and gold exploration, as well as being executive chairman of Australian Bullion Company (Pty) Limited, then Australia's leading gold dealers and members of the Sydney Futures Exchange. He is currently chairman of Golden Prospect Mining Company plc and advises mining companies with interests in Canada, Australia and West Africa.

Ian Cuthbertson becomes finance director. Ian is a chartered accountant who qualified in 1969 with Coopers & Lybrand. He spent 13 years in a wide range of overseas locations and positions with Santa Fe International Corporation, the oil well drilling group. He has served as company secretary since 1988.

Chairman John Kearney commented "These changes underline our commitment to make Anglesey a successful and dynamic mining company. In particular, we are very pleased to have the advice of Malcolm Burne whose industry specific expertise will be of great benefit to the company".

Mr Burne has been granted an option over 500,000 shares at an exercise price of 8.5 pence expiring on 22 October 2003 subject to a performance condition that the company's share price performance must exceed that of the companies in the top quartile of the FTSE 100 index.

The appointments come as drilling continues at Anglesey's Parys Mountain property where the company is working to upgrade the existing geological resource of 6.5 million tonnes at a combined average grade of over 10% zinc, copper and lead together with appreciable quantities of gold and silver
